Irene Neelis, Reception and Escrow was chosen as Cardinal's Champion for a Cause (CCC) during recent staff meetings. CCC is a program internal to Cardinal that allows employees and the company to team together to donate to employees' favorite charitable organizations throughout the year. Employees who participate in Casual Friday dress day each week donate a small sum of money to do so. Cardinal matches the collected funds, and a participating employee's name is randomly chosen during a staff meeting. The chosen employee gets to name the charity to receive the funds collected for two months.
Irene was chosen to designate the recipient of the March/April fund. She chose
St. Jude's Children's Hospital. "I just lost my beloved husband but to lose a child must be even more unbearable. Anyone who has a child who has been sick knows how hard it is, but to have a child who has a deadly disease can be devastating," said Irene. "At St. Jude's, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion, or the family's ability to pay. I can't imagine what it's like to have your child look into your eyes and ask, 'What is wrong with me?' or 'Why me?' and you don't have an answer. Maybe one day we will have an answer through research and donations. Please consider St. Jude's Children's Hospital when you are considering a donation."
